SLIDE & PRINT COPYING

The 1960's saw a boom in 35mm photography. Many people simply took their photos on print film for processing by mail order services, the local chemist or photographic shop, but many more went a stage further and used slide film (transparencies). We have all suffered that fate worse than death of enduring a show put on by a friend or relative who would shepherd you into a hot darkened room to watch an endless collection of back to front or upside down pictures of people with their heads chopped off for an interminably long period, luckily though not everyone fell into that category by a very long way.

Over the years literally billions of slides were taken and many were of very high quality or of unique subjects or events. Purchasing process paid slide film was a very expensive business and you had to wait a nail-biting week for your slides to come back from the laboratory before you saw the results. Due to the high cost of each slide, photographers took time to make sure their shots were correctly framed and exposed, they didn't fire off hundreds of shots of the same thing as we do today. Modern digital images can simply be deleted with no effort and zero cost implications. These days those very same slides are mostly banished to the loft: projectors and their magazines are virtually obsolete, as are 35mm film cameras, in fact the film itself is now very difficult to source, Kodak no longer manufacture the ubiquitous Kodachrome - for years a firm favourite of millions.

Many people used extremely good cameras and lenses such as Nikon, Canon, Olympus or Pentax and it is a great shame that all their investment and hard work now languishes gathering dust, unseen and unloved - so why not have your 35mm slides (or other sizes up to 3"x3") made into high quality digital images for easy viewing on a PC, TV or digital photo frame. We can do it for you and probably for a lot less than you think. You will be amazed at how well a small image such as a slide produces such clear and crisp digital images up to A3 size or possibly even larger.

Have you looked at your old colour prints lately? As well as slides we can make high quality digital images from colour prints, which yet again may over the years despite being stored in a dry and dark environment have become yellowed, discoloured or badly faded due to degradation of the materials used in the processing - it has to be said that some of the cheaper processing services that were widely available by post some years ago have in many cases not survived the test of time very well.

We can increase the size of your original image to A4 or larger if required.
We can also make digital images from colour or black and white negatives - again for less than you might have thought.

Although we can scan up to 9600 dpi (dots per inch) for an incredibly detailed image - it goes without saying that our success at providing you with a quality digital image is directly related to the quality of the slides or prints you send us. Despite everything you may have read about digital sharpening and enhancement - if your original image is blurred - nothing can be done to correct it.
